We devote this issue to information about the upcoming OR Manager Conference, October 2–4 in Orlando, Florida, because we believe that this conference is critically important, for us, for our healthcare industry clients, and the Directors of Surgical Services and others we associate with every day.

This is the conference that is the most finely tuned to the day-to-day work of perioperative leaders, with impressive sessions that will speak to all of us, teach us, and inspire us. For those who work in surgical services, the OR Manager Conference provides a chance to interact and be recognized on a national level by peers and by those who hire OR managers and directors. This networking is especially crucial now when there’s a 30 percent vacancy rate for Directors of Surgical Services, and the average tenure for these Directors is 18 months. We’ll be in the Exhibit Hall, we’ll be organizing events, and we’ll most definitely be attending sessions to enhance our understanding of the issues that face perioperative leaders.
