Chinese Hospital Hires Interim Director of Surgical Services
Whitman Partners placed Mary Gwartney as the interim director of surgical services at Chinese Hospital. The position, based in San Francisco, California, oversees 4 OR suites. Previously, Ms. Gwartney served as a nurse leader at many different facilities through First String Healthcare, Global Health Alliance. She has over 20 years of experience in director-level nursing positions.
Ms. Gwartney earned her MSN at Oklahoma Baptist University and her BSN at the University of Alabama. She also holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Chinese Hospital is a 55-bed hospital located in San Francisco, California. They are a non-profit facility dedicated to serving the needs of a multicultural community. The hospital, originally founded in 1899 as the Tung Wah Dispensary, was established to provide care to the underserved Chinese community in the area. It was destroyed in the 1906 earthquake and reopened in 1925 as the Chinese Hospital. Today, Chinese Hospital offers several clinics and an outpatient center throughout the Bay Area in additional to the main facility.
